ilmenite specification

Ilmenite is found in igneous and metamorphic rocks although it very rarely forms a major component of a rock. If that happens (in iron- and titanium-rich magmatic cumulates) then ilmenite is usually mined for its titanium content. Titanium extracted from ilm. in the form of titanium dioxide is used as a white pigment in paints and sunscreens among other things. Millions of tonnes of ilmenite are mined every year, but the majority of ilmenite comes from sand, not from the hard rocks.

Ilmenite uses

ilmenite is the primary feed stock of Titanium Dioxide. Ilmenite is the main source of titanium dioxide which is used in paints, fabrics, plastics, paper, sunscreen, food and cosmetics.

More than half of all titanium dioxide pigment is used in the production of paints (household, industrial and automotive etc.) as it reflects the sun’s harmful UV rays and protects paint from peeling. Titanium dioxide is also an important ingredient in the manufacturing of sunscreen, cosmetics, plastics, ink, paper, toothpaste and some foods such as flour and icing sugar to improve their brightness.

Ilmenite

Ilmenite is a main source of titanium,iron-black,heavy,metallic oxide mineral, compound of iron and titanium oxide .Ilmenite is a naturally occuring mineral comprised primarily of iron titanium oxide as well as other element such magnesium and manganese

Ilmenite can also be convert into synthetic rutile allar use as feedback production of titanium oxide pigment and titanium .Ilmenite can be futher seperated from iron through smelting process to make chloride process titanium slag or sulfate process titanium slag.

Ilmenite is the primary ore of titanium , a metal needed to make a variety of high-performance alloys. Most of the ilmenite mined worldwide is used to manufacture titanium dioxidilmenitel.jpge an important pigment, whiting, and polishing abrasive.
